Amazon Fresh has just opened in London, and "Tech Journalists" are already making Straw Man complaints about it. "They won't let me ride my bicycle in the store". That isn't a valid objection (or interesting observation) at all, and it has nowt to do with the "tech" on display.

If you want to be a "Tech Journalist" you should report on the "Tech" and its implications. One valid observation for free for all you "Tech Journalists" out there; what if this "tech" is licensed to all supermarkets? What will happen to the staff numbers ("employees") JOBS?

Over one million (1,000,000) people work in this industry. If this Amazon "tech" takes off, how many of these people will be put out of work, with supermarkets relying only on shelf stackers? That's a more interesting question isn't it? Who cares if you can't skateboard in store?

The only possible employment increase you'll see is Store Security, as violent, lawless Droogs don't care about a flimsy barrier; they'll jump it knowing that there's no one inside to tackle them. Physical security will need to be beefed up. Ealing is not Old Town Zurich.

Perhaps they'll use Man Trap Security doors like they do in Lagos at banks. This will run totally against their image of breezy openness, ease and stress free shopping. In fact, it kills the vibe completely.

Entering via a Man Trap Security Door for the first time is quite the experience; changing the perception of the environment after you've traversed the threshold. It feels like you're locked in...but you know bad guys can't enter. And if they're in, you're trapped in with them!

Journalists are very dumb. You won't get insightful analysis and speculation like this (LOL) from them; you have to go to Internets to get anything like interesting insight about anything. And in case you didn't know, this story is everywhere because Amazon's PR is planting it.
