etherscan.io/tx/0x8cc3c4774c… Punk #1737 received a legitimate 26.25 bid and accepted, but before his tx hit the chain, a contract flashloaned 26.25 eth + 1 wei and bid himself. The owner got 1 wei in return for his sale, and the contract now owns the punk.

To clarify, bids could always be sniped with slightly higher bids, that's not the issue. The problem is that the contract doesn't collect the entire bid amount for the seller if that eth is removed (back to AAVE here) in the same transaction.

There is nothing to be stressed about. No more danger, and minimal damage. Matt and john handled it very quickly.

This only affects accepting bids. The "accept bid" button was removed from the website for now, so no further danger. $40k in damages is nothing compared to past flashloan attacks in defi. Punks will live on.

No, Mike. “You’re actually spot on...” I mumbled to my self.

So the deal with "clean mining" is that DCMNA members agree to only process U.S. government-friendly transactions. This is Phase 1. What if Phase 2 involves not building on blocks that contain sanctioned transactions? "Mike, you're an idiot!" you mumble to yourself...

Thrilled to have finally found a reasonable and conclusive argument on the prospects of private blockchains. All those years of searching and this thread was right under my nose. Cheers @ercwl
1/ When people talk about blockchains in the traditional financial capital markets, they mention benefits such as transparency, faster transactions, less manual overhead and improved efficiency. This may be true, but it has almost nothing to do with blockchains.

if you ever worked on an open-source project, you know that giving governance rights to users is a horrible, horrible idea but it’s a good stepping stone towards better structured ownership tokens

Mate, is there anything more institutionally approved than Zcash? Even the project itself is one big, fragile institution.
