On day 5 of a state of emergency declared unilaterally by Wheeler we remember the words of Walter Benjamin, himself a victim of fascism:

“The tradition of the oppressed teaches us that the “emergency situation” in which we live is the rule. We must arrive at a concept of history which corresponds to this.

Then it will become clear that the task before us is the introduction of a real state of emergency; and our position in the struggle against Fascism will thereby improve.”

Thanks to @peoples_histpdx and everyone that came out to the event last Wednesday. It’s important to leave the digital realm and collectively talk about our shared history. Sorry for the belated message, it's been an intense week, and Twitter sucks

The amazing thing about podcasts is that anyone can make one with almost no investment, and reach a potentially infinite audience. But you know what is like 1000% better? Debating, discussing, and deliberating with your community.👇

Before punk was totally integrated into capitalism it was a vibrant sub-culture that often engaged with social movements and had the ability to influence society. Check out our bonus episode that reflects on this legacy: bit.ly/3d8xbwT

I guess these are making the rounds and it should be no surprise that these guys are coming out of the woodwork, but everyone should be aware of this.
Based on a tip, it does appear from our comparisons that one of the fascists rallying with Proud Boys in Salem this last Wednesday was Kyle Brewster, a former East Side White Pride affiliate who was one of the men convicted of the murder of Mulugeta Seraw in PDX in 1988.
