Markets were complacent before #Brexit - go long $USDMXN shortly before the #Election2016?

I was about to respond @sapinker but forgot I've actually met him 😎 (not that he would remember), so @RichardDawkins then, but again, also met 😎 'twas a long time ago, and a prized possession remains a picture of my younger self posing with Dawkins in front of the Oxford Union
Who’s one person that has made a big impact on you but that you’ve never met in-person?

MEPs sent a letter today to @EU_Commission & @2021PortugalEU asking to #StopAM171. The amendment 171 could entail illogical label restrictions & prohibit helping consumers make more sustainable food choices, No way - we say #StopPlantBasedCensorship! 🔗bit.ly/3mdbK20

Retail LPs lose? Surprise surprise
Replying to @hosseeb
OK so there's a little more brainpower that goes into LPing now—you'll need to specify your price range—but if it produces more liquidity, everyone wins right? Traders win, market makers win, BUT retail LPs lose! A few people have pointed this out already.

7/ imo - not all regulation is bad. But regulation needs to be minimalist, enforceable, and enforced. Creating massive amounts of red tape that is subjectively and infrequently enforced just produces corruption and rigs the game in favor of bad actors.

I use 6x leverage when I trade. Why? Because it increases my profits by 500%. Example: If you buy 1 Bitcoin for $10k and sell it at $50k, you make a profit of $40k. However, if you use 6x leverage, your profit increases to $240k. That's the power of leverage!

There is an idea of liquidity, some kind of abstraction, but there is no real depth, only an entity, something illusory. Though flow toxicity is hidden, and you can get a quote & feel an HFT algo tightening spreads, maybe you can even sense an order book... it's simply not there.

This is not correct and does our industry a disservice. Trades should be supported by contracts (and collateral!). Remember when Bitfinex sent $1bn to CryptoCapital without a contract? PS: I'm obviously biased too

9/29 The person negotiating also seems to have been unaware that making a deal on terms and starting to execute it, *is* legally binding and that billions of dollars of OTC flow happen this way every day.

“Binance has probably the strongest KYC/AML program in the industry. We use several third parties to comply and we also do very diligent IP address geofencing and have technology to even block VPNs. We also do blockchain analysis on inflows coming from US addresses”

Mad respect to those financing a $350mm bailout while marketing it as a "growth round" & simultaneously bashing TradFi for its opaque balance sheet, risk practices, leverage & centralization. Don't let the facts get in the way of a good story. I'm pro-bailouts btw b/c they work

Fire destroys #OVH datacenter in Strasbourg. A well-known crypto exchange had recently migrated away from it - quite a close call 😮 Not sure if anyone else was hosted there in our industry (also OVH was just about to go public- SFYL) I find this terrifying

It's funny because some hard left / Occupy groups were hyping bitcoin as the end of capitalism, early on. Guess crypto just attracts extremes. But they can't both be right in the end 🍿
Bitcoin ensures socialism will never succeed.

That @googledrive doesn't have a #Linux client, for an organisation built almost entirely on Linux, is one of the greatest betrayals in the history of IT. #irony

NFTards, please explain this to me. Does physical art represent a "ceiling" on the value of digital art? Physical more scarce than digital. If budget is $2mm, do you buy a serious piece of non-reproducible physical art or a... tweet... by @jack? #NFTs #artmarket

This guy trucks
Replying to @skorusARK
Trains to trucks is apples to oranges. You’d need to produce like 2 billion new semis to match the amount freight transported by trains plus create a brand new interstate system just to deal with increased traffic. Someone will just build an AE freight train before this
