The Anti-Defamation League urged Tucker Carlson to resign on Friday, accusing the Fox News host in an open letter of giving “an impassioned defense” of the replacement theory, a racist conspiracy belief popular in far-right circles. nyti.ms/325qXso

Mitch McConnell trashes President Biden's panel to study the Supreme Court as a "court-packing commission." Progressive judicial group Demand Justice criticizes it for including "far-right voices." (The panel is set to include prominent liberal and conservative members.)

On the debate over court structure, Biden appears to be looking for a middle path that is vanishingly narrow. Conservatives are very happy with the 6-3 court they've built. Progressives are still livid about Obama being denied a seat followed by election-eve Barrett confirmation.

President Biden orders the creation of a commission to study the structure of the Supreme Court. This was a campaign promise made amid pressure from progressives to add seats, while Republicans were confirming Barrett before the election. nbcnews.com/politics/white-h…

“But as a work of history, the book falls short. Most important, Boehner doesn’t acknowledge the role that his generation of Republicans played in building the bridge from Ronald Reagan’s era to our current times.” Counter-take from @julianzelizer: nytimes.com/2021/04/08/books…

Early days, but there’s speculation in NYDem world that Stefanik’s district could get carved up. Makes sense to keep her options open at this stage.
Replying to @katieglueck
Well, this is interesting — the view from team @EliseStefanik 👀

What Biden said: “No amendment to the Constitution is absolute. You can't yell crowd—you can't yell fire in a crowded movie theater and call it freedom of speech...So the idea is just bizarre to suggest that some of the things we're recommending are contrary to the Constitution.”
BREAKING: President Biden claims the 2nd Amendment is meaningless. The Constitution clearly states and the Supreme Court has repeatedly ruled that WE THE PEOPLE have a Constitutional right to keep and bear arms. The 2nd Amendment means what it says!

Sen. Todd Young, notably, is part of the group of 10 Republicans calling on the president to negotiate bipartisan solutions in good faith. If he’s adopting this posture then it’s hard to envision 60 votes for any gun limits.

It is significant that Kyrsten Sinema and Joe Manchin are using the first long recess of the new congress to dig in on their support for the filibuster, despite heavy pressure from liberals to reconsider their position.

No real mention of his comments that kicked off all this filibuster speculation, which was about making Senators have to show up to filibuster in person. Honestly still not sure what to make of this, there’s not really a new position on anything absent further questions.

There are other Biden-backed proposals that lack a clear path to *50* Senate votes and would struggle even without a filibuster, such as a ban on assault weapons and high-capacity ammo, a path to citizenship for 11M people here illegally and the PRO Act.
