In 2002, I was working for a kid's magazine. I had a chronic illness that flared up in the morning, so I worked 10-6 instead of 9-5. HR said, "If I'd known you were sick, we wouldn't have hired you."
Dear nondisabled people, Understand that โ€œgoing back to normalโ€ means that disabled people will not be given the option to work or to school at home. Most likely will have to fight for accommodations even though companies have shown itโ€™s possible to accommodate anyone.

In a world-turned-upside-down moment recently, Noam Chomsky said he was concerned the US would leave Afghanistan in a way that would generate the kind of war of all against all that followed the Soviet departure interc.pt/2RAdVRL by @mazmhussain

One sad thing about the US potentially leaving Afghanistan is that we'll have fewer opportunities to put the world's biggest narcotraffickers on our payroll interc.pt/2RAdVRL by @mazmhussain

Given the experience of the British and Russians and now Americans, it seems like invading Afghanistan and losing is just something that all empires go through at a stage in their lives, like getting acne interc.pt/2RAdVRL by @mazmhussain

After hearing Kevin O'Leary say that if corporations have to pay their fair share, they'll move outside the U.S., I asked him if that means Shark Tank will move to Canada or China, b/c I don't think it will happen. O'Leary paused and said, "we'll see."

There is no discernible connection between levels of corporate profits and investments that would lead to better jobs. Moreover, even if there were, it would likely make little difference for average workers, writes @schwarz. interc.pt/3afTpwa

This article says this diner can't find line cooks who'll work for $21,000, which is beneath the poverty line for a family of three.
Dale's Diner in Waterville, Ohio, closed last week. More customers than anytime in its 10-year history. The problem? No applicants for its many job openings. thedispatch.com/p/we-just-caโ€ฆ

This situation is terrible but what's even more outrageous is that no one will sell me a new Lamborghini for $5

I appreciate that Stephen Hayes has the integrity in an article about America's crushing labor shortage to point out there is no evidence that there is a labor shortage thedispatch.com/p/we-just-caโ€ฆ by @stephenfhayes

A funny thing about Reuters that even people who work there don't know is that in 1872 its founder Paul Reuter signed an agreement to essentially purchase Iran from the shah. (It caused such a political uproar that they had to cancel it.)
Reuters, one of the largest news organizations in the world, will put its website behind a paywall after a redesign, it announced on Thursday. A subscription will cost $34.99 a month after a free preview period. nyti.ms/3geqoVt

#BREAKING: @SenWarren and @RepAdamSmith reintroduce the #NoFirstUse Act to prohibit the first use of nuclear weapons in a conflict. This common-sense law will reduce the risk of nuclear war and make Americans, and the world, safer and more secure. globalzero.org/updates/mediaโ€ฆ

Armenian Genocide Remembrance Day is April 24, ten days from now. It will be interesting to see if Biden actually follows through on his promise to recognize the genocide. Obama promised that he would in 2008 and then didn't.
Today, we remember the atrocities faced by the Armenian people in the Metz Yeghern โ€” the Armenian Genocide. If elected, I pledge to support a resolution recognizing the Armenian Genocide and will make universal human rights a top priority. medium.com/@JoeBiden/statemeโ€ฆ

One thing that would be "funny" if Biden breaks this promise is Obama did tooโ€”so Samantha Power will have held high level positions in two administrations that lied about genocide. That would be rotten luck for someone who cares so much about human rights.
