One of the biggest technical challenges with Teardown has been to identify disconnected chunks with good performance. I just came up with a new algorithm that handles unlimited search distance and is an order of magnitude faster than the old one!
I often get the question how I got into game development and if I have any tips for beginners. I summarized my story and thoughts about getting into game development in a blog post: blog.tuxedolabs.com/2021/02/…
I recently played through There Is No Game by @KaMiZoTo. I bought the game "blind" from a recommendation without checking any reviews or trailers. What a perfect way to enjoy that game, I haven't had that much fun with a game in a long time. If you never heard of it, do the same!
We're very humbled to be nominated to the Steam Awards for Most Innovative Gameplay. Figuring out gameplay for Teardown was a long, rewarding and partly frustrating journey. If you think it turned out as great as we do ourselves, we appreciate your vote! store.steampowered.com/Steam…
As part of regression testing I usually do a glitchless speedrun through the campaign to make sure everything unlocks correctly. I've never managed to get under one hour before, but pretty close. Will stream an attempt on twitch in twenty minutes. Spoilers ahead. Wish me luck!

If you think Teardown deserves to be a nominee for the Steam Awards this year, we'd really appreciate it if you took the time to go in and nominate it before Monday. Thanks! store.steampowered.com/steam…
It's finally happening! We'll talk about raytracing, voxel collision detection, physics, destruction, acoustics and much more in this long awaited technical stream with live Q&A. Join us on Thursday!
#teardown maps from 3d scans of real places? It's possible! With FileToVox by @Zarbuz you can get a terrain in #MagicaVoxel it only remains to add a hard floor and change the color palette for materials. [WIP] I'm working on it or playing it more :) next week i guess!
